AIM

The ReSTART project aims to empower unemployed adults with job-relevant AI skills and human-AI collaboration competencies to support their reintegration into the labour market. The project focuses particularly on opportunities in remote and hybrid roles, such as administrative support, customer service, and virtual assistant positions.

Through an accessible problem-based learning (PBL) approach and a system of digital micro-credentials, ReSTART will provide practical, flexible training that equips learners with the skills needed to work effectively alongside AI technologies in modern workplaces.

Objectives

  • Develop job-relevant AI skills for unemployed adults by equipping them with practical competencies in human-AI collaboration for roles such as virtual assistants, administrative support, and customer service in remote and hybrid work environments.

  • Design and implement an accessible problem-based learning (PBL) curriculum that uses real workplace scenarios to make AI training practical, engaging, and directly applicable to professional tasks.

  • Create a digital learning platform with micro-credentials and badging, enabling users to access AI training modules, complete assessments, and obtain recognised digital badges that validate newly acquired skills.

  • Support workforce reintegration by aligning training with real industry needs through workplace shadowing opportunities and collaboration with employers.

  • Promote policy awareness and sustainable impact by encouraging the adoption of AI workforce upskilling policies and providing open-access resources for adult education providers and stakeholders.
